Presenter: Patrice Allen is a PhD History candidate at York University and a member of the Harriet Tubman Institute for Research on Africa and its Diasporas. Her research focuses on gender politics within Pan-African movements, specifically within Marcus Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association. Patrice has received the LA&PS Dean’s Awards for Excellent in Teaching, Ontario Graduate Scholarship and the prestigious SSHRC doctoral Fellowship. She is passionate about scholarship and teaching that is rooted in Black liberation and radical social change.
