Synopsis: Rural and remote communities have had long-term challenges accessing the goods and services they need. Many communities pay high costs for everything from childcare and broadband internet to recreation and fresh fruits and vegetables. Entrepreneurs in remote communities also face challenges accessing inputs and getting their goods to market. This talk will introduce a solution for entrepreneurs to consider: co-operatives! It will explore how groups of entrepreneurs can build co-ops to access the things they need and grow local business. We’ll also look at the long history of co-operatives supporting remote communities across Canada.
